I was asked when I gave my presentation at CMC2006 about making the site multi-lingual as not everyone speaks English.
There are, in fact, two translation problems I would like to solve:
- Translation of the user interface (menus, and wordpress system messages)
- Translation of postings
The user interface is likely to get addressed in a future release of the software (currently I can choose the whole site to be in one language, not make the site show according to who is viewing the site).
http://www.mkbergman.com/?p=267 has an interesting article about some technology to provide rough translations of postings. This could be applied if someone wants to take on this task, or can fund a project for me to pay a contractor to install it.
