Following % breakdown of RSS Reader by use. Zoundry to post I learnt that GreatNews and Zoundry can be configured to work together. Finally I found Lee Hopkin’s advice on using-greatnews-and-zoundry-together which slows you down to actually read the Options | Configure Blog Tool | Tool Details, selecting “Generic External Blog Tool” instead of “Generic” or a website based application.
Lee doesn’t mention it (presumably because it will depend on your exact machine configuration), but the location on my machine looks like it should be
"C:\Program Files\Zoundry Blog Writer\sys\pyth\zBlogWriter.exe"
Further, Zoundry’s userguide.html section 13.2 talks through the command line parameters, stating we need to use -blogthis and -url. Zoundry will pick up the default title from the blogpost.
That URL line reads:
“C:\Program Files\Zoundry Blog Writer\sys\pyth\zBlogWriter.exe” -blogthis -url %LINK%
It seems to work okay. For me such integration is merely convenience: I can hold in my head the steps I need to take without it distracting me. For others around me though, such simplification can make combining of tools usable.
As a technologist I have to remind myself that what is “straightforward enough” to me can be “confusing and frustrating” to others.
I’ll try it for a couple of days and then teach it to those others that I support.
