Beating the Entrepreneurial
Business Trap
Presented by
Stephen Semple
Founder of THINC
* Do you want to make more money?
* Tired of working long hours?
* Want to spend more time with your family? Many entrepreneurs spend too much of their time and energy on low value activities. This not only limits their income it prevents them from focusing on their high value activities. This ‘penny-pinching’ way of doing things creates a trap where more and more time is required to simply make a good living. Gone are the dreams of freedom that may have first motivated you to the life of an entrepreneur.
In this presentation you will learn a simple process that you can use to identify and eliminate your most draining, low value, pain in the neck activities. You will also learn how to reinvest this time into your most valuable tasks so that you can make more, work less and have a lot more fun. Stop saving pennies and learn how to bank on your talent.
About Steve Semple
Steve is a born entrepreneur. While still in university, he built one of the Maritimes’ largest entertainment firms from scratch. The business grew to over $1 million in sales and employed close to 30 students. In 1988, he sold it to his two partners and moved to Toronto. Steve started out at Canada Life as a Mortgage and Real Estate Analyst. Following his true passion for setting his own course, Steve moved on to the Investment industry. He built a substantial investment management practice as a Portfolio Manager and Director with TD Waterhouse, but soon discovered that doubling his hours didn’t mean doubling his income. He was a victim of his own hard work and it didn’t take him long to realize that that kind of growth could not be sustained.Steve decided it was time to take control of his business and his life. He left corporate Canada and started his own show. Yet his time in the corporate world taught him two crucial lessons.
The first lesson was that you can’t grow a business simply by working harder. The second was that businesses can become too reliant on the owner.
Steve is the founder of THINC. Strategies for 4 years and is a certified consultant for both The One Page Business Plan and Kolbe. His burning desire is to help people strike a balance between work, play and family so that they can have richer, more fulfilling lives.
He lives in Etobicoke with his wife Carrie and two daughters. His interests include snowboarding, sailing, scuba diving and golf.
