Slingplayer running on my Linux eeepc

All credit goes to Andrew Butkus and the fabulous efforts of the WINE project (which allows some Windows software to function on the Linux Operating System).

Anyhow check out on http://www.slingcommunity.com/group/discussion/26840/Slingplayer-Linux-Install-Script-1.0b/

I just love this eeepc!

PS. If you think that slingplayer on the eeepc is ridiculous, check out this effort to run vmware player on the eeepc.

So this was pretty easy to get working then? I had no end of trouble trying to get Sling working a couple of months ago. It was the one major reason I felt I needed to get XP on my Eee. I’ve gotten used to Linux now and don’t want to mess about getting XP working. I’m glad the process has been simplified! I’ll have to give it a go (might have to sort out remote viewing first, changed router and it doesn’t want to play nice!)

  2. Yes, once I’d upgraded it’s working quite nicely!

It settles down once a channel is selected and the slingbox is full screen, before that it can be somewhat jerky.

    Nicely watchable!
