Puerto Limon to Puerto Viejo… Panama cancelled!

We swam in the ocean about 7am this morning - the beaches at Tortuguero  have fabulous waves that crash in every direction. You can be 3 meters out and be up to your waist yet still feel really immersed! This Carribean sea is quite different to the Pacific side - calmer, warmer and quite a lot more fun :)
We had a tremendous thunderstorm last night: it sounded like a big metal sheet being flexed such was the roar, and although it was so loud we clearly were not in the center as I counted a good 12 seconds between the lightening strike and the thunderclap.

We left the turtles and national park this morning, heading out unexpectedly early when we noticed a boat due to leave - not only did we pack in 7 mins but also negotiated a 20% discount on the ticket price. Heh.

From Moin, we caught cab to Limon, then a bus to here, Puerto Viejo. We had planned to go further, down to Panama but have just made the decision to stay in Puerto Viejo until Sunday as the extra trip would take another 9 hours round trip and this place has lots to do and a great atmosphere in which to do it :)
We’re looking forward to the conference and meeting you all. As there is only so much time we’ll put some thoughts as to who we would especially like to meet.
Regards,

Martin & Andrea.
