ISO Recorder is a program that creates “.ISO” files that pretend to be CDs drives.

http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm to create them

And then follow the instructions on http://www.tech-recipes.com/windows_tips620.html to be able to turn this file into a virtual drive.
This is useful if you have CDs you want to protect, don’t want to carry them,  or like me you have a diminutive laptop without a CD drive.
