Backup your blog… here’s how
Although I read it today, Lorelle’s recent reminder to backup your blog occurred the very same day Rob inadvertently wiped out all his postings.
Most hosting plans include backup service, and have a means to restore a past snapshot. The plans will vary by how accessible that snapshot is (is it automated or do you have to ask a technician), how quickly that snapshot can be accessed, and how many snapshots are kept. Like backing up your own computer, we each need to be responsible to protect our efforts.
Lorelle brings together a great deal of content on the subject of blogging, and is well worth subscribing to.
Rob told me that he has grabbed all 40-something posts from Google’s cache. But, if the restore doesn’t go smoothly he faces an ardous task to restore the content by hand.
