Immigration process - one step beyond
I received a phone call this morning - from Immigration Canada.
They’ve received our application and processed Andrea’s request to Sponsor me. They verified that we wanted an Outside Application (Inside Applications are slower) and asked whether we wanted London, UK vs. Buffalo to do the processing. They are working faster than normal - its supposed to be 43 days from the date we applied (I can’t remember where the 43 days is written).
As I didn’t have any timelines in front of me to help me choose I asked them to have London process it. I asked for advice, but the lady at Immigration said it was “up to me”. Having just checked http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times-int/05-fc-spouses.html I’m glad I did… there is a 30% chance that London will process it within 3 months, rather than 4 months that it would have taken Buffalo. At the high end, London wins again, processing 80% within 8 months rather than 80% within 15 months for Buffalo.
Anyhow, I figure our case is not so tricky as we have no kids (yet) and I’m already on my third stay in Canada. Fingers crossed
