From a conversation on IRC’s #lvm channel:
MartinCleaver_: I have a ext3 in lvm filesystem on an external USB drive. How can I mount this on my mac? I have macfuse installed in case that can help.
[09:09am]bmr:the userspace parts of LVM2 will actually build/run on Mac OS
[09:09am]bmr:but since the Mac kernel has no device-mapper you can’t actually activate your LVM2 volume groups there

[]MartinCleaver_:Should a Mac running Linux under VMware be able to mount the drive?

[09:16am]MartinCleaver_:Heh. The only pity is that the disk I want to mount _contains_ all my vmware images!
[09:20am]bmr:MartinCleaver_, have to admit that I use MSDOS partitions on external media for exactly this reason - the benefits of volume management don’t buy me enough to outweigh the problem of not being able to plug them into $random systems
