You may have noticed yesterday this site’s not displaying the background. This post is in two halves: 1) implications for typical users of Zoundry and Wordpress, and after the (more…) 2) My notes to investigate why this happened. The latter half of this post is more technical.

I’ve just finished reading Headrush AJAX. Here’s my 40sec review!
Although some 350 pages, I found it a quick read (2 1/2 hours?), so I was really glad I borrowed it from the library rather than buying it.
The book whizzes you through the steps of converting an web app to an Ajax one: instead of interactions […]

Thomas Baekdal’s idea for a bridge between Web pages and RSS feeds is a simple and good one:

Will Humes provides another comprehensive review and says:
GreatNews is a very fast reader. You can scan thru articles quickly, and you have a choice […]

Although I read it today, Lorelle’s recent reminder to backup your blog occurred the very same day Rob inadvertently wiped out all his postings.
Most hosting plans include backup service, and have a means to restore a past snapshot. The plans will vary by how accessible that snapshot is (is it automated or do you have […]

I need to sort out automated backup for my pcs at home. Local drives aren’t going to cut it, not least because they offer nothing against the risk of a catastropic event at home. (e.g. burglery / fire).
So we’re in the market for something that can do automatic, incremental backups. Offline, over the internet.
So far […]
