Martin’s short form resume

Blogs make communicating exceptionally inexpensive. In this Web 2.0 world, why have a resume when you can detail for people about all your work history?

Well,

  1. Those responsible for recruiting are busy, and don’t have the time to read everything
  2. Existing processes (e.g. pass the resume to HR, who will check it for X, Y, and Z) and systems (e.g. feed it into the resume scanning system) have to be conformed to .
  3. You may want to emphasise certain experience
  4. Client demand a level of confidentiality in what’s publically documented.

Anyway, having some sort of resume online is doubtless a good thing.
